School of Chemical Sciences

Selecting a supervisor

Students need to select a research supervisor in parallel with the application to BSc(Hons) Chemistry, BSc(Hons) Medicinal Chemistry, BSc(Hons) Food Science, MSc in Chemistry, MSc in Food Science programmes, and with the enrolment to the PGDipSci Dissertation in Food Science and Chemistry.

The following processes have been established for PGDip, BSc(Hons) and MSc students to make their selection of supervisors. The aim of this process is to ensure that, wherever possible, students are matched with their first choice of supervisor. Students are required to meet with at least three potential supervisors to discuss possible research topics and then to indicate their first, second and third choice of preferred supervisor. The general research interests of potential supervisors are listed in the School of Chemical Sciences Handbook.

Submission of the form by this date will maximise your chances of securing your preferred supervisor. No binding arrangements regarding supervision can be made between potential supervisors and students before this date. Students will be advised of their supervisor as soon as possible after the application closing date.
